A word of advice to all you lassies and laddies – eat something green every morning. And we don’t mean sugar cookies sprinkled with green-dyed sugar granules. Even if they’re in the shape of cute shamrocks, still doesn’t count. We mean plant-based, whole foods, and most likely raw.

Dark leafy greens are considered superfoods because they’re so packed full of vitamins and minerals. The easiest way to bring in dark greens into your morning ritual is to add them to your breakfast smoothie. Here is one of our favorites – perfect for St. Patrick’s Day, or any other!

Bonus! You’ll see that we have maca in this recipe. Maca is a superfood that you can purchase in powder form at grocery stores like Sprouts, Whole Foods, etc. Maca helps equalize the body’s systems, particularly the adrenals. The adrenal glands is where we release cortisol (sometimes called the stress hormone). If we have too much cortisol in our system (which we often do), it will be extremely difficult to get into a deep and restorative sleep phase, recover from training and day-to-day activities, feel energized, find a healthy weight, stay healthy and not get sick…well, you get the picture.
