Because the connective tissues within our body are so interwoven, this posture helps release a shortened psoas (known often for its hip flexing skills), which in turn, influences our spine, rib cage, shoulders, breathing and so on. Like all muscles, the psoas must have the ability to relax, so it can have the capability to fire optimally, when we really need it.
